THE HEART AND MIND BEHIND ThemApples.Music
WHO's JIM?
SONGWRITER. PHILANTHROPIST. ENTREPRENEUR.
...AND SO MUCH MORE

Jim Alvey has spent his life chasing the one thing that has always felt like home—music. From his earliest memories, songwriting and performance have been the threads that stitched together his curiosity, his compassion, and his sense of purpose.
Before returning to music full‑time, Jim built a long and successful career in advertising and later in philanthropy, where he championed causes centered on social change, community support, and human dignity. His advocacy wasn’t theoretical; it was personal.
Jim lost his son to addiction, an experience that reshaped his understanding of grief, resilience, and the quiet strength required to keep moving forward. That loss deepened his commitment to helping others and infused his creative work with a rare honesty.
Now retired from the corporate world, Jim has returned to the place where he feels most himself—writing songs that speak to love, loss, hope, and the complicated beauty of being human. His music is a reflection of a life fully lived: joyful, bruised, grateful, and still searching.
Over the years, Jim has been a steady presence in several successful bands, most notably BLUE STEELE. These collaborations helped shape his sound and connect him with audiences who appreciate authenticity over polish and heart over hype.
Today, Jim writes and performs with the same passion that first pulled him toward music. His songs are stories—some his, some borrowed, all true in the ways that matter. And he’s just getting started on the next track of his life.
At Them Apples, music grows on trees!
